Flotation Optimization Project at Polymetal Eurasia Wins Gold Award at MINEX Kazakhstan

Artificial Intelligence for Flotation Optimization Gains Attention


MINEX Kazakhstan, the most significant Forum on mining and critical raw materials developments in Central Asia, took place in Astana on the 19th and 20th of April 2023. The event, organized under the theme “Managing natural resources to accelerate national development”, attracted over 500 delegates, including industry experts, government officials, and business leaders from 224 companies across 30 countries.

During the event, the annual MineDigital project competition was again held.  The objectives of the competition are to evaluate and present the most significant projects and technologies for the digitalization of geological, mining, and metallurgical enterprises of Kazakhstan in the period from 2021 to 2023.

The competition is aimed at the companies that implement solutions for digitalization and automation of production processes in the mining and metallurgical industry from the creation of digital cores to the construction of digital twins. The projects submitted to the competition were evaluated by an expert panel.

IntelliSense.io was extremely proud to be chosen by Polymetal Eurasia as a use case for this prestigious competition. The IntelliSense.io Flotation Optimization App is being deployed at Polymetal’s Bakyrchik Mining Plant and uniquely uses Scientific AI (the combination of Physics-based models with Machine Learning) to Optimize Metal Recovery, Increase Product Grade, Improve Impurity Levels, and Decrease Reagent Consumption. We are delighted to announce that together we were awarded the Gold medal.

 IntelliSense.io Flotation Application modeling approach can be applied to analyze flotation columnar cell behavior and make predictions of grades or other variables in real-time. Our Application uses a method based on a machine learning (ML) process model combined with an explainable and real-time configurable optimization engine that amplifies metallurgists/operators’ process visibility also giving guidance on how to best operate the circuit.
